ALAN DOYLE

From a young age, I understood that creative design in construction was my true calling. This realisation guided my academic journey, leading me to graduate from Architectural Technology at the Waterford Institute of Technology in 2005. During my studies, a visit Expo 2000 in Hanover Germany profoundly influenced my perspective.

The event sparked a deep fascination with the creative aspects of design, highlighting the significance of materials, forms, and spatial envelopes in architectural innovation. This experience cemented my passion for integrating creativity into the technological aspects of architecture.

Professionally, my career began with architectural practices in Galway, including Aidan Browne Architects and OKM Architects. During this time, I was involved in diverse projects, ranging from bespoke one-off homes to large-scale mixed-use developments, as well as sports and education facilities.

My journey then took me to the UK, where I amassed over a decade of experience in the civil and structural engineering aspects of construction with TGK Construction Ltd., focusing on residential and educational developments. This period allowed me to acquire a wide range of skills, including project management, quantity surveying, procurement, logistics & administration. These experiences, coupled with my passion for working with people, ultimately led me to establish my own design practice.

ARCDOYLE Design Ltd was born in December 2023. My passion lies with creating new home for families and commercial building that inspire. I am excited for you to follow our new journey as we showcase our expertise, share design insights, and celebrate the art of creating spaces that inspire. Let’s build something extraordinary together!

Sustainability

We believe the best architectural design practices for sustainable domestic dwellings and commercial buildings involves a blend of innovative techniques and mindful resource management. For domestic dwellings, we start by implementing passive solar design. Position the building to maximize natural light and heat during winter while minimizing them during summer. Use energy-efficient windows, high-performance insulation, and materials with high thermal mass to enhance energy conservation. Incorporate green roofs and walls to improve insulation and support biodiversity. Opt for sustainable, locally-sourced materials to reduce your carbon footprint.

In commercial buildings, we emphasis scalability and integration of advanced technologies. Installing energy-efficient lighting systems, such as LED`s with smart controls, to cut down on electricity use. Generating power by using renewable energy sources like solar panels or wind turbines. Adopt advanced water conservation techniques, including rainwater harvesting and grey water recycling, to reduce water consumption. Integrate biophilic design elements, such as indoor plants and natural ventilation, to improve air quality and enhance the well-being of occupants.
Both types of buildings can benefit from a holistic approach that combines energy efficiency, resource conservation, and occupant health. By following these best practices, you can create environmentally responsible and economically beneficial spaces.
